Skovona Skin's 2 Step Brightening System addresses pigmentation in high-friction areas without causing rebound pigmentation, a common occurrence for women with sensitive skin or olive, medium, rich skin tones. Many AHAs, BHAs and retinoids can initially lighten skin but because of damage to the skin barrier, ultimately lead to more hyperpigmentation.

Why this organization? Founder Simran had struggled with rebound pigmentation herself but when her mother faced skin discolouration post-chemotherapy (specifically on her hands) and was not able to find gentle brightening solutions, Skovsona was born.

Barrier-First Brightening
Skovsona AVOIDS barrier-disrupting ingredients like retinol, hydroquinone, arbutin, AHAs & BHAs. Even gentle exfoliants like glycolic acid can cause rebound pigmentation in many skin tones. Other common ingredients in brightening creams like tranexamic acid, although less irritating, do not provide any barrier-building which is key to avoiding future pigmentation. Instead, Skovsona creates formulas with proven brightening ingredients that also repair and protect the skin barrier.

Targeted, Waterless Treatments
Many ‘gentle’ brightening products or full-body brightening serums & creams are made with mostly water and are too diluted to have a significant impact on high-friction zones like knees, elbows, underarms etc. Instead, Skovsona focuses on targeted brightening (only where it’s needed), not full-body products. This targeted approach helps to create the right contrast for the appearance of even-toned skin. Our concentrated, waterless formulas contain ingredients that can actually penetrate stubborn skin and effectively brighten, while still protecting the skin barrier and avoiding rebound pigmentation. We also avoid an all-over body approach as it subtly reinforces the idea that lighter skin is more beautiful.

Some brightening products have very high concentrations of barrier-stripping actives that can provide short-term results but ultimately result in more pigmentation. Skovsona prioritizes fast brightening results but without compromising the health of skin. Our two-step system allows you to personalize brightening results with layering. The Brightening Duo consists of a Dark Spot Treatment that is gentle enough for everyday use. It can be layered with our Brightening Booster for short intervals when needed (perfect for event prep).
